Join us as we tour the scenic points of the North Rim.
I'll try to show you some areas perhaps different from the ones everybody sees.

About the Cliffrose

The blooms
Angel's Window formation
See the Colorado River?

Joselyn and me atop the Angel's Window formation
The Cape Royal viewpoint
It's a good thing Joselyn was reading the brochure or we'd have missed this gem of a trail. The trailhead goes down in the opposite direction of the canyon views we've been looking at, and doesn't look very interesting at first.
One of the first things we come to is this ancient Indian grain storage area.
Peeking inside...
The trail continues down...
To a high cliff and sort of hugs the edge underneath.

And curves around the side of the canyon.
Joselyn and me in the curve of the cliff.
The view from there.
The Cliff Spring...oh that's the name of this trail.

Looking back the way we'd come.
Trail markers.
Modern petroglyphs. Visitors to this cliff spring have dipped their hands in the wet red clay and put their handprints on the cliff walls....even though a sign specifically asks you not to do that.
Back to the van where Roe is waiting...
About the Indians who used the spring.

This sign was at an overlook.
This is the delta area where archaeologists found the Anasazi sites.
The delta area is waaay down there.
There's a little trail to Roosevelt Point.
One of the views from the trail.
He was right. We can only preserve it; we can do nothing to improve it.
The Lodge/Visitor Center
A view from the Visitor Center.
A storm is over the canyon.
Joselyn standing at one of the viewpoints near the Visitor Center.
An unusual plant?
Leaving the north Rim, we pass through meadows where deer and turkey are seen.
The North Rim is a beautiful place to spend the summer, that's for sure.
Oh My, Liz your trip was beautiful. I'm so happy you are an avid hiker so we could see all the beautiful vistas in your eyes. Thanks for sharing your trip.
