Life
If you give up your life - or any part of it - for the sake of Christ, He always finds ways to give it back to you.

"...I have come that they might have life, and that they have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)

Louisiana Purchase State Park, AR

This is one of those red square/point of interest spots on the map that is worth a stop. It is located off Hwy 49 west of Helena, AR.
Two miles down a paved side road, the road ends at a parking lot. A boardwalk leads into a swamp. Why a swamp? And what does it have to do with the Louisiana Purchase?
You can click on the picture to make it bigger and easier to read. In the heart of this swamp was the initial point of the 1815 Louisiana Territory land survey.
About the swamp
Ok, here's the boardwalk,
and here's the first view of the swamp.
Want to listen to the sounds of life? Play the video. The heavy breathing is just Roe, pulling on the leash.

Some background on the Louisiana Purchase:
About the survey that began here.
An unusual tree.
The hollow tree.
About the wildlife....we didn't see a raccoon, swamp rabbit, nor possum.
Did we see the frog?
Yes! (Don't know if it was this particular frog or not.)
Oh, and another swamp critter, slithering below.
Want a closer look?
Glad we're on a boardwalk...but don't look up. They sometimes hang from branches too.
Near the end of the trail.
Where the survey began.
The stone marker.
That's all.
